The 10th Annual Canadian Bracket Finals, hosted at Napierville Dragway, marked the season finale of the Super Tour National Championship, featuring an impressive turnout of 150 racers. Presented by PARA Performance Speed Shop in collaboration with Atelier Mécanique CLR and SM Transport, this year’s event was a thrilling capstone to a memorable racing season.
Friday Gambler’s Races – Super Pro & Footbrake
The weekend kicked off with the Friday Gambler’s Races, where Kyle Jessup emerged victorious in Super Pro, defeating Brock Godmaire in a battle of former Class National champions. In the Footbrake category, Stephen Ballantyne took home the win over Jean-Guy Bedard, setting the stage for an action-packed weekend.
Super Pro – Saturday $10,000 Final Round
The Super Pro class saw 78 racers competing, culminating in an intense final round on Saturday night. New York’s Mark Goyette squared off against Quebec City’s Remi Daigle in a race decided by the thinnest of margins. With only one thousandth of a second separating them at the hit, Goyette emerged victorious when Daigle broke out by two thousandths of a second. In the semifinals, Daigle had bested the formidable Mike Chenier, while Goyette knocked out former Super Tour Champion Brandon Barker.
The Footbrake category, with 58 competitors, saw Myles Truax capture his first-ever Super Tour victory. He triumphed over Noemie Ballabey in an all-Montreal-area final. Ballabey advanced to the final by defeating event sponsor Claude Labelle in the semifinals, while Truax earned a bye-run to secure his spot in the final showdown.
Sunday Final Rounds
Sunday’s Super Pro competition brought the return of semi-retired racer Frank “Para” Paradis, piloting Frank Mastro’s Camaro. Paradis, who owns PARA Performance Speed Shop, made a triumphant comeback by defeating Kyle Jessup from Renfrew, Ontario. Paradis’s consistent .018 package secured him the win, leaving Jessup unable to get under it.
The Footbrake final saw Alain “Cauchon” Marois from Drummondville dominate, securing the victory over Jean-Guy Bédard from Chambly. Marois’s .017 reaction time was enough to lock out Bédard, whose slower .099 light gave him no chance to recover.
Junior Dragster
In the Junior Dragster class, Ottawa’s Katie Adams clinched a victory on Saturday over Raphael Brunet, adding her name to the list of winners during Saturday’s program.
In Sunday’s Junior Dragster class, Shelbie Segin from North Bay triumphed over her friend Julia Malcolm from Ottawa, concluding a competitive weekend in the Junior category.
